Mechanical Engineering Manager – North London

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the Mechanical Maintenance Department at our Edmonton site in North London. You will ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of plant equipment, overseeing both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown work.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Mechanical Maintenance team, delivering high‑quality engineering solutions.
• Maintain and continuously improve the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme.
• Plan, coordinate and execute major boiler and turbine shutdowns, monitoring progress and adapting plans to minimise downtime.
• Manage statutory inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop accurate budget forecasts and control maintenance expenditure.
• Drive cost‑saving initiatives and implement commercially viable solutions to improve plant reliability.
• Support staff with problem‑solving and oversee delegated project work.
• Collaborate with planning teams to optimise outage programmes.

Required profile

• Degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience managing mechanical maintenance in an industrial or power generation environment.
• Strong knowledge of PPM strategies, statutory inspections and major plant shutdowns.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage budgets.
• Excellent leadership, communication and team development skills.
