Mechanical Engineering Placement (12 months)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering Placement Student to join our engineering team for a 12‑month, full‑time placement. You will gain hands‑on experience on live projects, developing CAD and design skills while supporting the update and remodel of an established product range.

Key responsibilities

• Create and remodel mechanical components using Autodesk Inventor.
• Convert and interpret design data from SolidWorks files and legacy engineering drawings.
• Produce accurate manufacturing drawings to company standards.
• Develop sub‑assemblies and complete assembly models from remodelled components.
• Create assembly drawings for customer documentation and workshop use.
• Support design verification activities to ensure component accuracy, fit and function.
• Collaborate with engineers to maintain design quality and consistency.

Required profile

• Studying towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and seeking a placement year.
• Familiar with 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk Inventor or a similar package.
• Comfortable reading and understanding engineering drawings.
• Detail‑oriented and able to accurately reproduce existing designs.
• Organised, proactive and able to work effectively within a team.
