Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – 12‑hour Shift Role

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter to join a fast‑moving manufacturing plant in Donnington. The role works on a 12‑hour rotating shift covering days and nights, supporting a small engineering team to keep plant equipment running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out reactive and planned mechanical maintenance across all plant machinery, including fault finding, shutdowns and project work.
• Perform fitting tasks on gear boxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, belts, bearings and chains.
• Log and hand over work to the opposite shift, ensuring accurate records of maintenance activities.
• Identify and implement solutions that improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Participate in the TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) improvement process and adhere to safe systems of work.

Required profile

• Mechanically trained and qualified, preferably through an apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical engineering qualification.
• Experience in an industrial, production or manufacturing environment.
• Previous job titles may include Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer or Mechanical Technician.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with gear boxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, belts, bearings and chains.
