Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading manufacturing business in Blackburn. The role is full‑time, day‑shift (Monday‑Friday, 8:00‑16:30) and offers a salary of £40,000 per year.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair gearboxes, pumps, conveyors and motors.
• Carry out hydraulic and pneumatic repairs, including basic welding and fabrication as required.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe, reliable operation of equipment.
• Analyse performance data and manage projects within agreed budgets and timelines.

Required profile

• Engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or higher) in a relevant discipline.
• Recent experience in a similar maintenance role (e.g., maintenance technician, mechanical fitter, shift engineer).
• Knowledge of non‑woven manufacturing processes is preferred.

Required skills

• Gearbox, pump, conveyor and motor maintenance.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic repair techniques.
• Basic welding and fabrication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
