Mechanical Repair & Maintenance Engineer – Production

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Repair Maintenance Engineer to join our production team in rural South East England. The role focuses on keeping plant and line equipment running reliably, with limited electrical duties and an emphasis on mechanical servicing.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out regular maintenance checks on rollers, conveyors, line machines and other production equipment.
• Diagnose, repair and service mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
• Interpret schematics and technical drawings to identify issues and implement solutions.
• Schedule and execute planned maintenance with minimal disruption to production.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and repairs.

Required profile

• Formal training in mechanical appliance or factory machine repair and maintenance (essential).
• Proven experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work independently on site with own transport.
• Willingness to provide proof of right‑to‑work and qualifications before interview.

Required skills

• Mechanical repair and maintenance of production equipment.
• Working knowledge of control panels, MCCs, motors and drives.
• PLC fault‑finding experience (preferred).
• Awareness of ammonia/refrigeration plant safety (preferred).
• ATEX/hazardous area awareness or CompEx (preferred).
• First Aid at Work certification (preferred).
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations – City & Guilds 2382‑22 (preferred).
• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical Installation or equivalent (preferred).
• Inspection & Testing qualification – City & Guilds 2391‑52 (preferred).
• ECS/JIB Gold Card electrician (preferred).

What we offer

• Competitive salary £35,000‑£40,000 per annum.
• Full‑time permanent contract, Monday‑Friday afternoon shift (2 pm‑10:15 pm).
• 40‑hour week with overtime opportunities.
• Rural onsite location – own transport required.
