Mechanical Site Manager - 6 Month Contract, Newmarket

About the role

1st Step Solutions is recruiting, on behalf of a Tier 1 M&E contractor, an experienced Mechanical Site Manager for a commercial project in Newmarket. The contract is 6 months long and pays between £300 and £350 per day. Candidates must have previous prison experience and be able to pass vetting processes; clearance can take up to 12 weeks.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with colleagues and supervisors on timeframe and labour requirements.
• Respond to mechanical issues as they arise and gather information on the installation and potential surprises.
• Oversee direct labour or mechanical subcontractors.
• Complete mechanical site safety audits and mechanical completion paperwork.
• Ensure safe working practices and mechanical safety rules are followed by plumbers on site.
• Ensure all paperwork is completed as required and report daily on site issues or progress.
• Assist teams in resolving matters, identify corrective actions and implement countermeasures to maximise productivity.
• Identify, source and deliver materials and consumables on time, maintain records and control stock.
• Maintain health and safety systems, including risk assessments, method statements and toolbox talks.

Required profile

• Previous prison experience and ability to pass vetting processes.
• City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Services or equivalent.
• CSCS card.
• SSSTS/SMSTS.
• Good literacy skills, proactive and well organised, able to meet deadlines.
• Excellent people management skills.
