Medical Audio Typist

About the role

The Medical Audio Typist provides confidential secretarial and administrative support to the Mental Health Services directorate within North Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership. Working from Ayrshire Central Hospital, you will ensure accurate transcription of clinical audio recordings and maintain high standards of data protection.

Key responsibilities

• Transcribe medical audio recordings with high accuracy and speed.
• Prepare, format, and distribute correspondence, reports, and meeting minutes.
• Maintain and update patient and service records in compliance with GDPR.
• Manage calendars, appointments, and travel arrangements for the directorate.
• Liaise with clinical staff to clarify information and ensure timely delivery of documents.

Required profile

• Education to O Grade/Standard Grade Credit or National 5 in English and Maths.
• SVQ Level III qualification in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
• Recognised IT qualification or equivalent experience with Microsoft Office packages.
• Advanced keyboard skills and proven audio‑typing experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with NHS environments (desirable).
• Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to work unsupervised and maintain confidentiality.
