Medical Laboratory Assistant – Band 3 (Temp)

About the role

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the busy Southmead Bristol Hospital laboratory on a temporary full‑time basis (Band 3). Working Monday to Friday, 10 am‑6 pm, you will support essential diagnostic services and help deliver high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Process, receive and handle patient specimens accurately and efficiently.
• Perform basic laboratory tests and record results.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment according to standard procedures.
• Enter data and maintain accurate laboratory records.
• Follow quality, health‑and‑safety and infection‑control protocols.
• Monitor stock levels and manage supplies.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to support daily operations.

Required profile

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good IT proficiency and experience with record‑keeping.
• Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Flexible approach to working hours.
