Mental Health Practitioner – Primary Care (Band 6)

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is recruiting two Band 6 Mental Health Practitioners to join the Primary Care Mental Health Team (PCMHT) based at Kirkintilloch Health & Care Centre. You will provide timely, person‑centred assessments and evidence‑based interventions for adults with mild to moderate mental health difficulties within a primary‑care setting.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, formulate care plans and deliver evidence‑based psychological interventions.
• Perform risk assessment and management for the defined caseload.
• Maintain a defined clinical caseload and ensure continuity of care.
• Collaborate closely with GPs, primary‑care colleagues and multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to service development, audit and quality‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Professional qualification with current registration (e.g., NMC or HCPC).
• Relevant post‑qualification experience working with adults experiencing mental health difficulties.
• Experience in mental health assessment, formulation and delivery of evidence‑based interventions.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment and management.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) – certificate or in progress.
• Risk assessment techniques.
