Mental Health Support Worker – School (Charlton, Greenwich)

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Support Worker to join a specialist school setting in Charlton, Greenwich. The role involves providing pastoral and emotional support to pupils with complex mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, and other conditions.
Key responsibilities
- Support a small class of 3‑6 students throughout the school day.
- Assist the teacher in delivering lesson objectives and using resources to engage each pupil.
- Provide one‑to‑one pastoral care, acting as a positive role model and emotional guide.
- Monitor behaviour, conduct risk assessments and follow safeguarding procedures.
- Build rapport with pupils and help them understand and participate in lessons.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting students with SEN, mental health issues, or challenging behaviour.
- Confident, calm and collected in a school environment.
- Knowledge of the UK curriculum and safeguarding policies.
- Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions.
Required skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
- Ability to risk‑assess and implement support plans.
