Mental Health Support Worker – Youth (12‑hour shifts)

About the role

We are seeking an empathic, resilient and proactive Crisis Support Worker to join our specialist team caring for a young person (aged 11‑17) with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs. The role provides a consistent, trusted adult presence, building safe relationships that are the core of the intervention.

Key responsibilities

• Support daily living and routines, encouraging stability and wellbeing within the home.
• Plan and participate in activities and outings to promote social and recreational development.
• Provide therapeutic support using evidence‑based, trauma‑informed techniques such as grounding and emotional regulation strategies.
• Prioritise the safety and security of the young person at all times.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, interventions and communications in line with safeguarding and legal requirements.
• Engage in regular supervision, reflective practice and mandatory training to sustain professional standards.
• Transport the young person to appointments, activities or education as required.
• Liaise with external professionals (CAMHS, social workers, emergency services) to ensure coordinated care and appropriate escalation.

Required profile

• Empathic, calm and patient with strong emotional regulation.
• Resilient and able to work 12‑hour shifts across days and nights.
• Committed to building trusting relationships and supporting independence.
• Willing to engage in ongoing supervision and training.

Required skills

• Knowledge of trauma‑informed, grounding and emotional regulation techniques.
• Ability to document incidents and interventions accurately.
• Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Capability to transport and accompany the young person safely.

What we offer

• PAYE rate of £17.50‑£24.00 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay.
• Flexible/agency contract with 12‑hour day and night shifts.
