MEP Facilities Technician – Temporary (2‑3 month contract)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced MEP Facilities Technician to join a cutting‑edge scientific and laboratory site in Oxford on a 2‑3 month temporary contract. The role involves hands‑on maintenance of critical building services, ensuring the plant operates safely and reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise specialist contractors for plant and building‑service work.
• Perform routine and reactive maintenance on chilled‑water, HVAC, and air‑handling systems.
• Monitor and manage the Building Management System (BMS) to maintain compliance and performance.
• Oversee generators and backup power equipment, ensuring readiness for emergencies.
• Maintain lab‑gas distribution plant and associated safety systems.
• Prioritise maintenance tasks, record activities and report any issues to the facilities team.

Required profile

• Proven experience in facilities, building services or industrial maintenance within a technical or laboratory environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical plant systems.
• Ability to manage contractors and schedule maintenance effectively.
• Practical problem‑solving approach with a focus on safety and compliance.

Required skills

• Chilled‑water system operation and maintenance.
• HVAC and air‑handling unit servicing.
• Building Management System (BMS) monitoring.
• Generator and backup power system maintenance.
• Lab‑gas plant knowledge.
