Metadata Lead – Enterprise Data Governance

About the role

We are seeking a Metadata Lead to own and evolve the enterprise metadata capability for a leading UK personal lines insurer. The role will define the vision and roadmap for metadata tooling, ensuring data is discoverable, governed and trusted across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, own and deliver the metadata roadmap aligned with business and regulatory objectives.
• Lead configuration, rollout and value‑realisation of Collibra and Databricks Unity Catalog.
• Use metadata tools and processes to enable effective data governance and data quality outcomes with key stakeholders.
• Promote the purpose and value of metadata tooling through data forums, workshops and demos.
• Optimise and automate data‑governance processes and support major data migration and business integration programmes.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Collibra specialist with solid data cataloguing and lineage knowledge.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Databricks Unity Catalog.
• Track record of designing and executing delivery roadmaps that deliver measurable business value.
• Ability to translate technical solutions into clear business outcomes.
• Excellent understanding of data governance and data quality best practices.
• Experience developing junior data‑governance and data‑quality stakeholders.
