Metering Construction Unit Operative

About the role

The Metering Construction Unit Operative supports the delivery of water‑metering and network projects across the Bristol Water region. You will work alongside the Lead Operative to install meters, stop taps, and carry out related excavation and reinstatement tasks, ensuring a high‑quality customer experience and compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with excavation, location of water supplies and installation of meters, stop taps and associated pipework.
• Carry out backfilling and reinstatement works to required specifications.
• Support lead‑replacement programmes and private‑side leak repair activities.
• Participate in emergency response, including deployment of drinking water supplies during major incidents.
• Maintain company vehicles, trailers and plant in a safe, serviceable condition.

Required profile

• Ability to follow company procedures, health & safety policies and use personal protective equipment at all times.
• Customer‑focused attitude, delivering work with minimal disruption to residents.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and respond to urgent incidents.
