Metrology Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Metrology Engineer to join a precision engineering and inspection business in Deeside, North Wales. You will be responsible for dimensional inspection of high‑spec components for aerospace, defence, automotive and advanced manufacturing customers, ensuring parts meet exacting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out dimensional inspection using CMMs, FARO Arms, laser scanning systems and conventional metrology equipment.
• Create, edit and optimise CMM programs with PC‑DMIS, PolyWorks, MCOSMOS, Aberlink or similar software.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models and GD&T requirements.
• Produce accurate inspection reports, FAIRs and other quality documentation.
• Support root‑cause analysis and non‑conformance investigations.
• Liaise with Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering teams to resolve dimensional and process issues.
• Perform first‑off, in‑process and final inspections and support calibration/maintenance of metrology equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of inspection and quality processes.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Metrology Engineer, CMM Programmer or Senior Inspector.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to read complex engineering drawings.
• Background in precision engineering, aerospace, automotive or defence manufacturing.
• Problem‑solving mindset with high attention to detail.
