Microbiology Laboratory Technician

About the role
Our client is seeking a precise, detail‑oriented Microbiology Laboratory Technician to join their laboratory team on the outskirts of Chichester. You will carry out routine microbiological testing, prepare media and reagents, and perform quality‑control activities that keep daily operations running smoothly.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct routine microbiology tests with high accuracy and meet turnaround times.
- Measure, prepare and sterilise laboratory media, diluents and reagents according to SOPs.
- Check de‑ionised water conductivity, measure post‑sterilisation pH levels and report out‑of‑specification results.
- Complete all lab sheets, logs and technical records legibly in ink.
- Maintain a clean workstation and assist with equipment operation, calibrations and audit support.
Required profile
- Degree in microbiology or a related discipline, or at least 3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Experience working in an accredited laboratory environment, preferably familiar with ISO/IEC 17025.
- Strong ability to follow documented SOPs and work independently once trained.
- Meticulous attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity and good communication skills.

- Equipment calibration and operation of microbiology testing instruments.
What we offer
- Salary £25,000 – £30,000 per year OTE plus benefits.
- Full‑time permanent contract.
