Microsoft Platform Support Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled L2/L3 Support Engineer to provide advanced application and platform support for Microsoft technologies across enterprise IT systems in Stevenage. The role focuses on incident resolution, service improvement and platform administration while ensuring high availability and user satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 Application Management Services (AMS) support for multiple COTS and enterprise applications, maintaining SLA adherence.
• Triage, diagnose and resolve incidents, offering work‑arounds when permanent fixes require change.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for recurring incidents, document findings and drive preventive actions through problem management.
• Handle service requests for access, configuration, data updates and application housekeeping.
• Coordinate change and release activities, including impact assessment, RFC creation, CAB support and post‑implementation validation.
• Maintain operational documentation such as SOPs, runbooks, knowledge articles and configuration records.
• Collaborate closely with product vendors, third‑party suppliers, Service Desk and infrastructure teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience in L2/L3 support for Microsoft platforms and enterprise applications.
• Eligibility for Security Check (SC) clearance or existing SC clearance preferred.
• Based within reasonable commuting distance to Stevenage or willing to travel regularly to the site.
• Strong understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes and CMDB management.
