Mid Level Engineer

About the role

Legatics is seeking a Mid Level Engineer who thinks in systems and outcomes, not just code. You will work at the intersection of product and engineering, using modern AI tooling to deliver high‑quality features quickly while understanding the why behind each problem.

Key responsibilities

• Build, ship and maintain features across the Legatics platform, owning problems from conception to delivery.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and customers to translate user and commercial needs into well‑designed technical solutions.
• Direct AI tools such as Claude Code to work efficiently, applying judgment to verify, refine and stand behind all shipped code.
• Reason about system architecture, data flows, integrations, edge cases and downstream impact of changes.
• Contribute to technical decisions, code quality standards and guardrails that enable fast, safe development.
• Work with senior engineers setting architectural direction and grow influence over time.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑framing and communication skills – able to articulate what needs solving and why.
• Solid software engineering foundations: can read unfamiliar codebases, reason about architecture and write maintainable, well‑tested code.
• Product‑focused, systems‑thinking mindset with a passion for user outcomes.
• Sound judgment when using AI tooling – able to direct, review and correct AI‑generated output.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and ownership in a fast‑moving, small team.
• Based in the UK and able to travel to the London office roughly twice a month.
