Mid-Level Fashion Designer (Apparel)

About the role

We are seeking a focused and passionate mid-level fashion designer to join Varley’s Chesterfield studio. Reporting to the Senior Designer, you will help bring our women’s apparel collections from concept through to finished product, ensuring every detail reflects our brand’s modern, confident aesthetic.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Senior Designer in developing seasonal apparel collections from initial concept to final hand‑over.
• Mentor and assist junior designers, overseeing design packs and documentation.
• Create detailed design packs, sourcing and performance review documents for smooth hand‑over to the Development Team.
• Attend fittings and collaborate with development to maintain design integrity.
• Maintain collection overviews, sourcing packs and ensure global calendar deadlines are met.
• Assist in presenting seasonal collections to the sales team.

Required profile

• Degree in Fashion Design or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years experience in women’s wear design.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fit and fabric performance.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.
• Familiarity with 3D design tools such as Style 3D (advantageous).
• Proficiency in Keynote and PowerPoint for presentations.
