Middleware Advanced Applications Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Middleware Advanced Applications Engineer to join the specialised middleware and application platform support team of a Global Investment Bank. The role focuses on supporting ultra‑low‑latency electronic trading systems for Forex and Fixed Income markets, ensuring the messaging infrastructure meets the demanding performance requirements of real‑time trading.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure and tune Solace PubSub+ messaging patterns for low‑latency trading.
• Manage Solace brokers, message VPNs, queues, topic endpoints, bridges and DMR across primary/backup pairs.
• Implement high‑availability and inter‑datacenter replication configurations.
• Define governance, naming conventions and standards for Solace messaging.
• Monitor message flow, identify latency bottlenecks and perform capacity planning.
• Collaborate with global CMI development teams to integrate trading applications, design topic hierarchies and optimise client configurations.

Required profile

• Strong experience in technical platform or infrastructure support, preferably within electronic trading or capital markets.
• Proven ability to work under pressure during market hours and resolve issues quickly.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for gathering technical requirements.

Required skills

• Solace PubSub+ platform – configuration of message VPNs, queues, topic endpoints, bridges and DMR.
• Low‑latency trading environment tuning.
• Messaging middleware technologies and multicast messaging protocols.
• Linux/Unix administration with focus on network and messaging performance.
• Automation and scripting – Python, Shell scripting, SQL.
