Mid‑Senior .NET Software Developer – Public Sector

About the role

FDM Group, a global technology consultancy, is seeking a Mid‑Senior .NET Software Developer for a public‑sector client. The role is initially a six‑month contract with strong potential for extension and will be based hybrid across several UK cities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance .NET applications, domain services and Dynamics 365 integrations supporting key business processes.
• Build accessible, user‑focused web applications using ASP.NET Core MVC, Razor Views and GOV.UK Design System components.
• Design and implement functionality using CQRS, Domain‑Driven Design principles and workflow state machines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks, integration failures and data inconsistencies.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, business analysts and technology teams while mentoring junior developers and participating in code reviews.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience with C#.NET 8 and ASP.NET Core MVC.
• Hands‑on experience with CQRS, MediatR, Domain‑Driven Design, dependency injection and modern software architecture.
• Proven ability to develop and consume REST APIs and maintain large‑scale enterprise applications.
• Experience writing automated unit and integration tests using xUnit and FluentAssertions.
• Solid understanding of Git, pull‑requests, CI/CD pipelines, application security, authentication and authorisation.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
