Mine Electrical Engineer – Rotating Shift

About the role

British Gypsum is seeking a Mine Electrical Engineer to join a small, dedicated shift team on a rotating schedule (morning, afternoon, night). You will be responsible for delivering both preventative and reactive electrical maintenance to keep the mine operating at peak efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and unplanned electrical maintenance on diesel vehicles, conveyors, crushers and other mine equipment.
• Install, test and commission LV and HV electrical systems and equipment.
• Apply continuous‑improvement techniques to all maintenance activities.
• Ensure all work complies with the highest health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 18th Edition electrical qualification.
• Level 3 apprenticeship or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• Underground mining experience preferred; heavy‑industry experience acceptable.
• Strong health‑and‑safety awareness with the ability to identify and challenge risks.
• Experience maintaining mobile plant or similar equipment.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with high‑voltage (HV) electrical systems.
• Hands‑on experience with low‑voltage (LV) electrical systems.
• Electrical maintenance of industrial machinery.
• Installation and testing of electrical equipment.
