Minibus Driver – Independent Preparatory School

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Minibus Driver to join an independent preparatory school in Buckhurst Hill. The role involves transporting pupils, staff and authorised visitors safely to a variety of school‑related activities, sporting fixtures and educational trips. The position is full‑time, permanent and averages 30 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Safely transport pupils, staff and authorised visitors to and from school activities, events and trips.
• Operate the school’s minibus in compliance with road traffic legislation and school policies.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections, complete checks and maintain accurate records.
• Assist pupils with safe boarding and disembarking.
• Maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.
• Report any defects, maintenance needs or incidents promptly.
• Coordinate transport schedules with school leaders and administrative staff.
• Support transport arrangements for educational visits, sporting fixtures, performances and special events.
• Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and school transport procedures at all times.

• Organised, dependable and able to work within a busy school community.
• Valid UK driving licence appropriate for minibus operation.

Required skills

• Valid UK driving licence (Category D1 or equivalent).
• Knowledge of road traffic legislation and safe vehicle operation.
