Mobile Maintenance Electrician

About the role

We are seeking a Mobile Maintenance Electrician to join Tarmac’s readymix production network across the Midlands. Based in Lockington near Derby, you will travel to multiple plants, providing hands‑on electrical support on a days‑based schedule with occasional overtime and on‑call duties.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain industrial electrical plant and equipment.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance asset reliability.
• Work with PLC systems, variable‑frequency drives and motor installations.
• Maintain records and update the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Support safe and efficient production across several sites.

Required profile

• Qualified electrician with 18th Edition (BS 7671) certification.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent apprenticeship/ONC in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in heavy‑industry environments such as readymix, cement, quarrying or similar.
• Full UK driving licence (max 6 points) and willingness to travel regionally.

Required skills

• Low‑voltage (LV) electrical systems.
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and related programming.
• AC drives and motor technology.
• Use of CMMS, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Root‑Cause Analysis/FMEA.
• Inspection and testing procedures for electrical assets.
