Mobile Plant Engineer

About the role

This is a field‑service position covering the South West, focused on reactive and planned maintenance of heavy plant equipment used in recycling, waste processing and forestry. You will join a close‑knit team that values ideas, offers career development and supports environmental sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out breakdown, repair and replacement work on motors, gearboxes, conveyors and related plant components.
• Strip machine assemblies to component level, rebuild and re‑commission equipment such as shredders, screeners, trommels, chippers and separation systems.
• Perform both reactive and scheduled maintenance across a range of specialist recycling and forestry machinery from manufacturers including HAAS, JENZ, Pronar and Bruce Engineering.

Required profile

• Experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter, Field Service Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, Quarrying Equipment Engineer or similar heavy‑plant role.
• Strong background in hydraulic, mechanical and electrical fault‑finding on heavy equipment.
• Previous work on shredders, screeners, chippers, separation systems or material‑handling equipment is advantageous.

What we offer

• On‑target earnings (OTE) of approximately £60,000 per year, including door‑to‑door pay and overtime.

• Standard 7:30‑4:30, 42‑hour week with potential to progress to a Senior Engineer role.
