Mobile Plant Fitter / Service Engineer (Diesel Pumps)

About the role

Join a regional plant‑hire company as a Mobile Plant Fitter and Service Engineer, based in Wigan. You will travel to client sites across the North West, maintaining and repairing diesel‑driven water pumps and other mechanical diesel plant equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out pre‑delivery inspections (PDI), servicing and repairs on pump‑hire equipment.
• Attend client locations to diagnose and fix industrial water pumps.
• Fit accessories and perform on‑site adjustments as required.
• Work efficiently under pressure while maintaining accurate service and repair records.
• Present a professional, positive attitude on customer sites.
• Adhere to health and safety standards set by HSE and the company.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Service Engineer, Mobile Service Engineer or Plant Fitter.
• Background in the plant/pump‑hire or construction equipment sector.
• Analytical approach to problem solving and ability to work independently.
• Own tool kit and clean current driving licence.
• Basic IT competence and good written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• Diesel engine repair and rebuild.
• Diesel water pump servicing and maintenance.
• Mechanical diesel plant equipment maintenance.
