Mobile School Cook Manager (Part‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a Mobile School Cook Manager to travel between primary and secondary schools in Hitchin, Luton, Bedford and surrounding areas. You will lead kitchen teams, ensure high‑quality meals and uphold safeguarding and food safety standards throughout the school term.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver fresh, nutritious meals to pupils.
• Lead and develop kitchen staff, fostering a positive team culture.
• Manage stock control, ordering and budget within allocated limits.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, HACCP and health & safety regulations.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, portion sizes and allergen handling.
• Build strong relationships with school staff, students and the wider community.
• Keep accurate records such as temperature checks, audits and allergen registers.

Required profile

• Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate (mandatory).
• NVQ Level 2/3 (highly desirable).
• Proven leadership experience in a catering environment.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to manage budgets, stock and kitchen operations.
• Knowledge of food safety, allergens and school food standards.

What we offer

• £15.85 per hour (£19,178 per annum) – 27.5 hrs/week, term‑time only.
