Mobile Vehicle Technician – Barnet (SMR Division)

About the role

Join the RAC’s Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division as a Mobile Vehicle Technician based in Barnet. You will work from a fully equipped van, visiting customers’ homes or workplaces to carry out scheduled servicing and repairs, without emergency call‑outs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing and in‑depth repairs normally done in a workshop.
• Run vehicle diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• Conduct safety checks in line with RAC standards.
• Provide members with advice and recommendations based on inspections.
• Manage parts ordering and documentation through the RAC mobile platform.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance with at least 2 years’ experience, or 5 years’ experience as a vehicle technician/mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).
• Ability to work independently following a pre‑planned schedule.

• Competitive base salary of £45,378 + London weighting, with on‑target earnings up to £57,000.
