Mobile Vehicle Technician – Bristol

About the role

Join the RAC's Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division as a Mobile Vehicle Technician based in Bristol. You will deliver planned servicing and repairs directly to members' homes or workplaces, working from a fully equipped van and following a digital schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing and comprehensive vehicle diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• Carry out in‑depth repairs normally done in a workshop, ensuring quality and safety.
• Provide members with clear advice and recommendations based on inspections.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks in line with RAC standards.
• Manage parts ordering and documentation through the RAC mobile service platform.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ experience, or 5 years’ experience as a vehicle technician/mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 penalty points.
• Ability to work independently following a pre‑booked schedule.

Required skills

• Vehicle diagnostics using advanced mobile tools.
• Routine servicing and in‑depth vehicle repairs.
• Knowledge of light‑vehicle maintenance procedures.

What we offer

• Competitive base salary of £40,178 with on‑target earnings up to £52,000.
• Guaranteed overtime option raising base to £44,385 plus additional overtime and bonuses.
• 40‑hour week, core hours 8:30 am–5:00 pm, 1 in 4 Saturdays.
