Mortgage Training & Competency Supervisor

About the role

We are recruiting a Mortgage Training & Competency Supervisor for a leading UK mortgage brokerage based in central London. The role blends regulatory oversight with adviser development, working hybrid (2 days remote, 3 days in‑office) to ensure high‑quality mortgage and protection advice across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full Training & Competency (T&C) scheme for Mortgage and Protection Advisers, ensuring FCA compliance.
• Conduct regular 1:1 supervision meetings, competency assessments and performance reviews.
• Perform file checks, suitability assessments and maintain up‑to‑date supervision logs and evidence trails.
• Verify advisers meet minimum qualification requirements (CeMAP or equivalent) and CPD obligations.
• Identify advice‑quality risks, implement corrective action plans and support regulatory reporting.
• Provide coaching, feedback and structured development plans for advisers, including onboarding new entrants.
• Monitor sales practices and documentation, collaborating with QA, Compliance and Sales Leadership to drive improvements.

Required profile

• Experience in a regulated sales environment, preferably mortgage broking or T&C supervision.
• Strong understanding of FCA rules such as MCOB, ICOBS and the Consumer Duty.
• Ability to communicate clearly, work collaboratively and manage regulatory risk.

Required skills

• Knowledge of FCA regulations (MCOB, ICOBS, Consumer Duty)
• CeMAP qualification or equivalent
