Motor Claims Handler

About the role

Acorn Insurance is seeking a Motor Claims Handler to join its Fleet and Specialist product team in Liverpool. You will manage a portfolio of motor claims from initial report through settlement, delivering a high level of service to fleet customers.

Key responsibilities

• Validate claims for indemnity and fraud, assess liability and communicate decisions.
• Contact claimants or representatives promptly to gather and update key information.
• Perform accurate quantum assessments using available tools.
• Collaborate with in‑house motor engineers to reduce exposure on vehicle losses.
• Minimise indemnity spend through commercial decision‑making.
• Maintain proactive diary management and monitor case progress.
• Ensure accurate reserves in line with company guidelines.
• Meet performance objectives and adhere to best practice strategies.
• Manage files and portfolio efficiently and mentor less experienced handlers.
• Undertake any ad‑hoc tasks required by the business.

Required profile

• Persuasive, confident communicator with strong relationship‑management skills.
• Self‑starter who can work both independently and as part of a team.
• Organised with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
• Analytical mindset capable of fact‑finding and accurate decision‑making.
• Experience handling significant PI, credit hire, and injury claims, with knowledge of the Pre‑Action Protocol and Civil Procedure Rules.

• Competitive salary between £28,747 and £38,160 per year, plus a £2,000 annual bonus potential.
• Hybrid working arrangement.
• Full‑time permanent contract (37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday).
