Motor Vehicle Course Leader

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead Motor Vehicle programmes at a well‑established further education college in Yorkshire. Reporting to the curriculum management team, you will provide academic leadership, ensure curriculum relevance and drive high‑quality learner outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate delivery of Level 1‑3 Motor Vehicle programmes, keeping content current and industry‑relevant.
• Develop, review and enhance schemes of work and learning resources.
• Monitor and improve student retention, achievement, attendance and progression.
• Oversee quality of teaching, learning and assessment, completing Self‑Assessment Reports and maintaining Quality Improvement Plans.
• Manage attendance, learner engagement and behaviour, implementing timely interventions.
• Provide day‑to‑day support, guidance and coaching to teaching staff.
• Carry out internal verification and moderation to ensure assessment quality and compliance.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• A Level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent).
• A relevant vocational qualification or degree in Motor Vehicle or a related subject.
• Recent experience delivering Level 1‑3 Motor Vehicle programmes in further education.
• Strong knowledge of current industry practices and awarding‑body requirements.
• Experience monitoring learner progress and driving achievement and retention.
• Familiarity with internal verification, moderation and quality‑assurance processes.
• Excellent organisational, communication and leadership abilities.
