Multi Skilled Engineer

About the role

This role is based at a biomass facility just outside Chester, delivering renewable electricity by converting waste wood. The Multi Skilled Engineer will ensure plant equipment runs reliably, supporting the site’s ambition to become a bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) project.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
• Follow best‑practice maintenance techniques and document work in the CMMS (Maximo).
• Assist with plant development projects and lead commissioning activities.
• Coordinate and supervise external vendors, including occasional weekend work.
• Maintain compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and company Life‑Saving Rules.
• Report unsafe conditions, support investigations and ensure maintenance tools meet HSE standards.
• Contribute to outage planning, scheduling and preparation of works.
• Proactively identify equipment defects and suggest improvement actions.

Required profile

• Hands‑on attitude with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience in maintaining both mechanical and electrical plant assets.
• Ability to work safely, supervise contractors and follow strict safety procedures.
• Strong communication skills for liaising across the Asset Maintenance Team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Maximo CMMS for maintenance record keeping.
