Multi Skilled Operative

About the role

We are seeking a Multi‑Skilled Operative to join a facilities management team, providing maintenance across a portfolio of secure commercial sites in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Essex. The role is mobile, with a company van and fuel card, and involves planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and minor projects.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks on multiple sites.
• Perform minor plumbing, building‑fabric repairs, painting, decorating and making‑good works.
• Conduct routine compliance duties such as fire‑alarm testing and water‑hygiene checks.
• Install fixtures and fittings, report defects and ensure site presentation and safety standards.
• Record work using PDA systems or paper records and liaise with site users, colleagues and subcontractors.

Required profile

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or building‑services environments.
• Ability to work independently, manage own workload and communicate professionally.
• Full UK driving licence and eligibility for BPSS screening and Security Clearance.

Required skills

• Practical competence across a range of maintenance disciplines, including basic repairs.
• Proficiency with hand tools and use of PDA or similar recording systems.
• Experience in painting, decorating and minor plumbing tasks.
