Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Multi‑Skilled Shift Engineer to join a large‑scale manufacturing operation on the Wirral. Working on a 4‑on/4‑off shift pattern, you will be responsible for keeping production equipment and plant services running at peak performance.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment faults during shift activities.
• Respond rapidly to production breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and routine safety inspections.
• Perform fault‑finding and diagnostic work on both reactive and scheduled tasks.
• Maintain a variety of production machinery and site services.
• Support engineering and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Promote health, safety and environmental standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Produce shift reports and ensure clear handovers.

Required profile

• HNC, Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical maintenance practices.
• Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

• Competitive salary of £51,371 per annum.
• Overtime rates: 1.5× on weekdays, double time on weekends, triple time on bank holidays.
• Shift pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off (2 days, 2 nights) with scheduled extended breaks.
