Multimodal Logistics Operator – Sea Freight

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Multimodal Operator to manage sea‑freight import and export shipments for a well‑established logistics and freight forwarding business in Grangemouth. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will act as the primary point of contact for customers and partners, ensuring cargo moves smoothly from booking to final delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate sea‑freight shipments from initial booking through to delivery, handling both imports and exports.
• Liaise with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers and customs authorities.
• Monitor shipment progress, resolve operational issues proactively, and keep records in the company’s operating system.
• Arrange UK transport, oversee final deliveries, and ensure accurate customs clearance documentation.
• Perform job costing, invoicing and supplier cost checks while maintaining compliance with SOPs and industry regulations.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with customers and logistics partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience in freight forwarding, particularly sea‑freight imports and exports.
• Ability to manage shipments end‑to‑end with high attention to detail.
• Strong organisational, prioritisation and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service orientation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of sea‑freight processes and documentation.
• Understanding of customs clearance procedures.
• Familiarity with shipment tracking and costing systems.
