Multimodal Operations Clerk

About the role

Our client, a growing freight forwarder based near Reading, is seeking a Multimodal Operations Clerk to support day‑to‑day freight forwarding activities across air, road, sea, import/export and cross‑trade. The role is office‑based and involves coordinating shipments from quotation through to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Raise and arrange customs clearances (CDS) for inbound and outbound shipments.
• Manage booking slots with suppliers and receivers, ensuring optimal utilisation.
• Keep customers fully informed on the status of their movements via phone and email.
• Create and update bookings in the company’s Freight Management Software.
• Maintain constant communication with hauliers, carriers and internal teams to deliver a high‑quality logistics service.

Required profile

• Positive, solution‑oriented approach.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills (phone and email).
• Proven experience in freight forwarding or a similar logistics environment.
• Ability to learn new IT systems quickly and accurately.
• Team player focused on delivering the best possible customer experience.
• UK national or right‑to‑work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages.
