Multiskilled Automation Engineer

About the role

GXO Logistics is looking for a Multiskilled Automation Engineer to keep a highly automated distribution centre operating at peak performance. You will work on the Avonmouth site supporting the Amazon contract, focusing on fault finding, preventative maintenance and continuous improvement of roller conveyor networks and Intralox sorter technology.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation of automated equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and control system faults to minimise downtime.
• Complete maintenance records, reports and documentation using the site CMMS system.
• Support continuous improvement projects, equipment upgrades and engineering initiatives across the site.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 18 Edition Electrical certification, plus IOSH Managing Safely.
• Experience working in an automated engineering, manufacturing, logistics or maintenance environment.
• Strong fault‑finding skills across mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems with a proactive problem‑solving approach.
• A safety‑first mindset, ability to work independently, manage priorities and drive continuous improvement.
