Multiskilled Maintenance Electrician

About the role

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the North East, is seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Electrician to join their permanent team. You will be responsible for keeping a wide range of plant and facilities equipment running efficiently, supporting both preventative and reactive maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs on extrusion, automation, plant and facilities equipment.
• Diagnose and fault‑find electrical systems, including PLCs, control panels, drives and motors.
• Perform mechanical maintenance tasks such as hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors and rotating equipment.
• Assist with continuous improvement and reliability projects to minimise downtime.
• Install and commission new capital equipment on‑site.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using the MMS system and follow H&S procedures.

Required profile

• Time‑served apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering (essential).
• Strong electrical bias with excellent fault‑finding abilities.
• Extensive experience in a manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
• Knowledge of PLC fault finding (Siemens experience desirable).
• Familiarity with 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
• Flexible approach to 12‑hour shift patterns, including nights.
• Team‑player with a proactive attitude and desire to progress.
