Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Days Only

About the role

We are seeking a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a leading manufacturer in Ilminster, Somerset. The position is days‑only, offering a three‑day week every other week, providing a strong work‑life balance without night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Fault‑find and repair both mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve control and mechanical failures, working both independently and as part of a team.
• Support root‑cause analysis and continuous‑improvement initiatives to boost reliability and OEE.
• Collaborate closely with production teams to maximise plant performance.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.
• Participate in site improvement projects and drive best practice across the department.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
• Share knowledge and support the development of the wider engineering team.

Required profile

• Time‑served or formally qualified engineer.
• Multi‑skilled background with a mechanical bias (electrical experience also valued).
• Experience in manufacturing, food, FMCG, packaging or similar environments.
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proven experience in both reactive and planned maintenance.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced production setting.
• Experience with CMMS systems is advantageous.
