Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Our client, a specialist manufacturer of engineered products in Northumberland, is seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join their plant team. This permanent, day‑shift position offers hands‑on exposure to a wide range of mechanical equipment and the chance to develop into a manufacturing engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and corrective maintenance on plant and production machinery, with full training provided.
• Diagnose faults, implement long‑term corrective actions and minimise downtime.
• Support the rollout and continuous improvement of a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system.
• Design and fabricate jigs and fixtures to improve production efficiency.
• Source spare parts, materials and equipment, and manage external contractors.
• Ensure all equipment complies with health and safety standards.
• Create and update documentation such as SOPs and work instructions.
• Provide technical support during customer visits and occasional travel, and train operators on basic machine maintenance.

Required profile

• HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Practical mechanical experience, preferably with pneumatic systems.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot equipment and use initiative.
• Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented attitude.
• Eagerness to learn and progress within an engineering career.
