Multi‑Skilled Operative – Repairs & Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Multi‑Skilled Operative to join our team on a busy responsive repairs contract for social housing in Margate. You will work on occupied properties, delivering high‑quality repairs across a range of trades while providing excellent customer service to residents.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out day‑to‑day responsive repairs in social housing, including carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating.
• Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves, internal doors, handles, locks and hinges.
• Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops and cupboard doors.
• Identify and fix minor plumbing faults such as leaks, dripping taps and blocked sinks.
• Repair uPVC windows, doors, frames and related hardware, ensuring proper operation.
• Perform patch plastering, wall and ceiling repairs, and complete tiling, grouting and sealing tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed using handheld devices or job sheets.
• Participate in out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades.
• Ability to work safely, efficiently and to a high standard in occupied homes.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Reliability and willingness to join an out‑of‑hours rota.
