Music Teacher – Full‑time Maternity Cover at Hillingdon Secondary

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Music Teacher to provide full‑time maternity cover at Hillingdon Secondary School. The successful candidate will deliver a vibrant, inclusive music programme for pupils of all abilities, inspiring a love of music and supporting ensemble work. You will join a dedicated team committed to fostering confidence and creativity through music.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned music lessons for secondary students.
• Assess, track and record pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs.
• Create a stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity and independent learning.
• Contribute to the development of the music curriculum and departmental initiatives.
• Lead extracurricular music activities, including concerts, ensembles and clubs.
• Collaborate with colleagues and parents to promote positive attitudes towards learning and achievement.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) preferred; candidates with relevant secondary music teaching experience will also be considered.
• Experience teaching music across a range of abilities in a secondary setting.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work effectively within a school community.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
• Ability to deliver whole‑school music curriculum, including theory and performance.
