Network Design Engineer (Low‑Latency FX Platform)

About the role

Our client, a leading provider of foreign‑exchange trading platforms, is seeking an experienced Network Design Engineer to design, implement and optimise a high‑performance, low‑latency network infrastructure. The role is a 12‑month contract based in London with a hybrid working model (three days on‑site).

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver enterprise‑grade network solutions supporting a large‑scale FX trading environment.
• Develop detailed network diagrams, routing and switching configurations, and multicast architectures.
• Implement and fine‑tune firewall policies across Fortinet, Palo Alto and Check Point platforms.
• Configure and manage F5 load‑balancing devices and NAT (source and destination) services.
• Collaborate with security, infrastructure and trading teams to ensure compliance with network security best practices.
• Produce and review comprehensive technical documentation for stakeholders at all levels.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Network Design Engineer, Network Architect or Senior Network Engineer in large‑scale, low‑latency environments.
• Background delivering network solutions for financial services, trading or capital‑markets organisations.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Immediate availability or ability to start on short notice.

Required skills

• Advanced routing and switching design (OSPF, BGP, MPLS).
• Multicast network design and support.
• Fortinet, Palo Alto and/or Check Point firewall expertise.
• F5 BIG‑IP load‑balancer configuration.
• Source NAT and destination NAT implementation.
• Cisco ACI fabric, Juniper and Arista networking (nice to have).
• CCIE certification (nice to have).
