Network Design Specialist, Mobile IP

About the role

We are looking for a Network Design Specialist focused on Mobile IP to join BT’s Networks division. The role will be based in London or Bristol and will involve defining, documenting and delivering IP network designs for the mobile core, ensuring they meet architectural, operational and security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define and agree IP network designs for the mobile core, producing high‑level and low‑level design documentation.
• Liaise with vendors and suppliers to align solutions with road‑maps and delivery schedules.
• Propose improvements to processes, technologies and security controls.
• Define test requirements and test strategy for new designs and oversee validation activities.
• Manage installation, testing and configuration of physical and virtual network hardware such as firewalls, routers, switches and monitoring tools.
• Support the implementation of core and cloud infrastructure security and contribute to technology lifecycle planning.
• Provide technical consultancy to internal teams and handle escalations from the global network support organisation.
• Deliver documentation, knowledge transfer and training to embed new solutions into the support organisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing IP networks for mobile core environments.
• Strong understanding of operational and security requirements for telecom networks.
• Ability to produce clear high‑level and low‑level design artefacts.
• Experience working with vendors and managing solution road‑maps.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to support escalations.
