Network Engineer (eDV)

About the role

We are partnering with an established organisation to recruit a Network Engineer to join their growing infrastructure team in Cheltenham. The role involves designing, implementing and optimising enterprise network services across LAN, WAN and data‑centre environments, ensuring high availability, performance and security.

Key responsibilities

• Support design, implementation and maintenance of LAN, WAN and data‑centre network infrastructure.
• Monitor network performance, investigate and resolve incidents and faults.
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls and related equipment.
• Assist with network upgrades, migrations and transformation projects.
• Implement and support network security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs and access control policies.
• Maintain documentation, diagrams, standards and operational procedures.
• Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning and high‑availability initiatives.
• Support virtualised and software‑defined networking environments.
• Contribute to network automation and Infrastructure as Code using modern automation tools.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security and application teams to deliver reliable services.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Network Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or Network Support in an enterprise setting.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP).
• Experience with enterprise networking vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, HPE or Fortinet.
• Good knowledge of network security principles, firewalls and VPN technologies.
• Proven analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
