Network Manager – Education (Reading, Berkshire)

About the role

The Network Manager will oversee the design, security, maintenance and installation of the school’s ICT network, ensuring reliable service for staff and students. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will drive IT projects and act as the primary liaison between the Managed Service Provider and the school.

Key responsibilities

• Run the school’s ICT applications and network infrastructure.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support.
• Ensure all work complies with school policies and procedures.
• Manage day‑to‑day IT operations, responding to requests promptly.
• Line‑manage ICT support staff and oversee their output.
• Deliver technical advice, training and support to teaching and administrative staff.
• Monitor and maintain virtual and physical server environments, network switches, Microsoft 365 services and backup solutions.
• Train internal staff on new systems and processes.

Required profile

• Passionate about IT with 2–3 years experience as an IT Manager, Network Manager or Senior ICT Consultant in a school setting.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong problem‑solving and proactive attitudes.
• Self‑motivated with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
• Understanding of the specific responsibilities and regulatory requirements of a school environment.
• Experience performing upgrades to school network systems.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

What we offer

• Competitive salary between £33,000 and £41,000 (negotiable).
