Network & Security Architect

About the role

Take ownership of secure network architecture across complex defence programmes, influencing critical environments from concept through delivery. The role offers the chance to expand architectural influence, work on high‑assurance systems and develop expertise in secure infrastructure, network security and emerging cloud technologies within a regulated setting.

Key responsibilities

• Design secure network architectures that meet complex business and operational requirements.
• Provide architectural leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and feasibility to implementation and handover.
• Define network security approaches, standards and roadmaps across multiple projects and environments.
• Collaborate with security specialists, network operations, infrastructure engineers and stakeholders to deliver resilient solutions.
• Facilitate technical workshops, architecture reviews and design discussions to achieve consensus.
• Evaluate new technologies and support adoption of modern infrastructure and cloud‑based capabilities where appropriate.
• Support secure network environments across different classifications and operational needs.
• Contribute to strategic architectural initiatives and address project‑specific technical challenges.

Required profile

• Strong background in network architecture, design and network security.
• Experience with secure network infrastructure in regulated or high‑assurance environments.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Proven experience leading design reviews, governance discussions and technical decision‑making.
• Excellent stakeholder management and consensus‑building skills.
• Comfort operating within large, multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed organisations.
• Motivation for continuous learning and professional development in a technically demanding environment.
