Network Support Engineer

About the role

Babcock is seeking an experienced Network Support Engineer to join the Skynet programme, the UK MOD satellite network. You will provide third‑line support for IP and satellite communications, troubleshoot faults, and implement upgrades in a secure, defence‑focused environment. The role is hybrid, based in Corsham, and includes on‑call duties with additional allowance.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to customer faults, network incidents and performance issues.
• Install, configure, test and commission new system elements and services.
• Ensure all services meet UK security and military communication requirements.
• Manage obsolescence to keep the network supportable and compliant.
• Provide 3rd/4th line technical support to customers, third‑party providers and internal Skynet teams.
• Participate in an on‑call rota for out‑of‑hours fault diagnosis and resolution.

Required profile

• Proven experience in telecoms or Satcom engineering supporting IP networks.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Self‑motivated, energetic and capable of translating complex problems into simple solutions.
• Willingness to work within a security‑cleared environment (SC/DV eligibility required).
