New Product Development (NPD) Chemist

About the role

We are seeking a New Product Development (NPD) Chemist to join our technical team in Cheshire East on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will own a portfolio of new product and process development projects, guiding them from concept through to commercial launch. This role combines hands‑on laboratory work, scale‑up trials and close collaboration with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and execute product and process development projects from ideation to market launch.
• Assess new product ideas, estimating costs, benefits, resources and timelines.
• Plan, prioritise and monitor development activities to ensure on‑time delivery.
• Coordinate laboratory experiments, production trials and scale‑up activities.
• Report progress, provide technical recommendations and make go/no‑go decisions.
• Engage with suppliers, consultants, test houses and academic partners to support development.
• Provide technical support for specifications, material changes, customer complaints and troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven industrial experience in product development, R&D or process development.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept through to commercial launch.
• Experience working with customers, suppliers and cross‑functional teams.
